Propylene Glycol(MPG)

Product Applications
1,2-Propylene glycol is an important raw material for the production of unsaturated polyester resins, epoxy resins, polyurethane resins, plasticizers, and surfactants. These applications account for approximately 45% of total propylene glycol consumption. Unsaturated polyester resins are widely used in surface coatings and reinforced plastics.
Due to its good viscosity and hygroscopic properties, 1,2-propylene glycol is widely used as a humectant, antifreeze agent, lubricant, and solvent in the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries.
In the food industry, 1,2-propylene glycol reacts with fatty acids to form propylene glycol fatty acid esters, which are mainly used as food emulsifiers. It is also an excellent solvent for flavorings and colorants. Because of its low toxicity, it is commonly used as a solvent for food flavors and food colorants.
In the pharmaceutical industry, 1,2-propylene glycol is commonly used as a solvent, softening agent, and excipient in the manufacture of various ointments and creams. It is also used as a blending agent, preservative, and solvent for products such as ointments, vitamins, and penicillin.
Because propylene glycol has good compatibility with various fragrances, it is also widely used as a solvent and softening agent in cosmetics.
1,2-Propylene glycol is also used as a tobacco humectant, mildew inhibitor, lubricant for food-processing equipment, and solvent for food-marking inks. Its aqueous solution is an effective antifreeze. In addition, it is used as a tobacco moisturizing agent, mildew inhibitor, fruit-ripening preservative, antifreeze fluid, and heat-transfer medium.
Propylene Glycol
Propylene glycol is an organic compound with the molecular formula C₃H₈O₂ and a molecular weight of 76.09. It exists in two configurations, R and S.
Both configurations are generally considered non-hazardous to water. Do not discharge the material into the surrounding environment without government authorization.
Store in a sealed container in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from light.
Propylene glycol is widely used in the synthesis of chiral pharmaceuticals.
